Scholarships
A.A. McLaughlin Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by friends of the late Coach A.A. McLaughlin to provide annual scholarships to graduating seniors from Alderson, WV
David E. Yarid Scholarship Fund
Established to honor the memory of David Yarid, a young businessman who died in the prime of his life as well as the Yarid family who has been prominent in the local business community for many years. Provides a four-year scholarship to college to a student pursuing a college degree in business.
Gay and Becky Shinaberry Scholarship Fund
Created by the Shinaberrys to provide assistance with college expenses to young women from Pocahontas County whose parents have yet to earn a college degree.
Greenbrier Community College Scholarships
Twenty-four separate named scholarship funds to assist students attending the Lewisburg campus of New River Community and Technical College.
Lewisburg BPW Scholarship Fund
Created by the Lewisburg Business and Professional Women’s Club to provide scholarships for women students attending public colleges in Lewisburg, WV
Moore Family Philanthropic Scholarship Honoring Greenbrier Military School Fund
Established to promote the tradition of philanthropy perpetuated by the Moore family and GMS. Awarded to one or more students from Greenbrier County.
Roe Walker Family Fund/Janice Walker Pogue Scholarship for the White Sulphur Springs Community
Established by Ms. Pogue to provide an annual scholarship to a graduating senior from White Sulphur Springs.
Roland P. Sharp Family Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by Dr. Sharp to provide assistance to Pocahontas County Students pursuing careers in dentistry, teaching, or agriculture.
Stephen Baldwin Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in memory of the late Greenbrier County Superintendent of Schools. Awarded to one or more students graduating from Greenbrier County high schools.
Virgil Hanshaw Orphan’s Scholarship Fund
Awarded to a native west Virginian student to attend college with a major in business that has lost both parents to death, is part of the foster care system, or is a member of a single-parent household.

Caribbean Christian Centre For the Deaf Fund
Supports the Lewisburg-based charity which aids three schools and one village for deaf Jamaicans.
Carnegie Hall West Virginia Endowment Fund and Carnegie Hall Foundation, Inc. Fund
Provide assistance to Carnegie Hall for its arts and education programming.
Greenbrier County 4-H Foundation Fund
Supports 4-H programming in the areas of camping, project work, ribbons, and scholarships.
Greenbrier County Historical Society Endowment Fund
Provides assistance with maintaining Historical Society buildings and programming.
Greenbrier County Schools Foundation Fund
Created to support the mission of providing educational opportunities for students in the Greenbrier County Public School System.
Greenbrier County Schools Recycling and Environmental Education Fund
Furnishes salaries for recycling coordinators and assists in awareness activities and school projects.
Greenbrier East High School Science Department Fund in Honor of Delores Dotson
Assists with the purchase of supplies for the Science Department and provides awards and recognition for outstanding students.
Greenbrier East Sports Endowment Fund
Established to support the athletics department at Greenbrier East High School.
Greenbrier Military School Alumni Association Fund, Forever Fund, Leadership Fund, Life Membership Fund, and Scholarship Fund
Five funds created by the GMS Alumni Association to support and maintain the GMS Alumni Museum, sustain alumni activities, provide leadership training, and maintain a scholarship for a student to attend the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine.
Greenbrier Valley Chorale Fund
Advances the activities of the chorale.
Greenbrier Valley Theatre Endowment Fund and The Al Jeter Jazz Memorial Endowment Fund
Two funds instituted to support West Virginia’s Official State Theater and to continue educational and jazz programming.
Julia Alderson Fletcher Memorial Fund
Initiated by the Alderson family to benefit the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church in Alderson, WV
Kathleen Sims Meadows Memorial Fund
Established through the estate of James O. Meadows, Sr., to benefit Alderson Presbyterian Church in Alderson, WV
Kathryne F. Shafer Memorial Fund
Supports the Old Stone Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg, WV
Lewisburg Rotary Club Fund
Promotes the charitable activities of the club and the scholarships it provides.
Martha McMillion Memorial Fund
Established with a gift from the late Martha McMillion to benefit Old Stone Church in Lewisburg, WV
Mary B. Nickell Fund for the Arts
Grants from this fund are used to support arts programs in the Greenbrier County Schools.
Mildred McClung Evans Memorial Scholarship Fund
Created by Old Stone Church in Lewisburg, WV, to aid worthy ministerial or Christian education students
