What is the Community Foundation?

About the Foundation

Mission

The mission of The Greater Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation is to create a tradition of charitable giving and enhance the quality of life of the people of the Greenbrier Valley by accepting contributions, managing funds and making charitable distributions.

 

The Greater Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation (GVCF) was established in 1999 to create and administer funds, accept contributions, and distribute grants.  Responsibility for policy and direction is vested in a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of residents from throughout the tri-county area.

Main Functions

  • Establish endowment funds for individuals and businesses that provide money for charitable purposes in perpetuity.

  • Establish endowments for nonprofit organizations

  • Operate its own unrestricted fund which makes grants to nonprofit organizations in the community.

  • Serve as fiscal sponsor for community projects.

Financial Information

Copies of the Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation's annual financial review are available in the GVCF office, 809 Jefferson Street S., Lewisburg, WV 24901.  A statement of financial position is printed in the annual report.
